Götterdämmerung: Imran is a demigod for many, but all gods need a goddess too; and like all good old Greek mythological stories one was chosen and became the queen though more immortal than the demigod himself. 

That’s not what the readers want to read about of course but Götterdämmerung is upon the mythical couple now, the twilight of the gods as they call it.

Heading straight from the pious altars of happy marriage to an ugly fall out that is bound to end in a courtroom, with a press conference from the Pinky and a possible political distancing from the all mighty Khan, living his life pacing up n down in jail cell.

Who said it? Well if you don’t live in Islamabad this could be a valid question but in the capital the inner political and social circles are abuzz with the happening that is destined .

She came, she made him conquer and now its time to leave. But will she be put behind bars? This is a subject many of my colleagues are juggling with these days in their columns and their Vlogs. This is possibly the most worn out tactics establishment has used each time they want to get rid of someone. The chances of her arrest are slim rather negligible but Pinky on her way out could be the path to her salvation. She is not a novice actor unable to read into the nuances of peddled rumors and subtle messaging, she as many say has honed this talent over the years, so the time has come to come “clean” and make the exit.

This could be an inconvenient truth for many to digest and a prophecy of doom n gloom that is unacceptable for the Insafis in general because who wants a tragic ending of a mythical love story, right?

But the story that started in a small town of southern Punjab finally is wrapping up quickly in the Islamabad. The upper echelons of the present system are not just privy to this information they are once again rewriting the same old script that is on a constant loop for seven decades. 

There is the cipher case, there are the allegations of corruption, there are Shahzadis and charlatans; seems like this cast for a Shakespeare’s play though badly cast has all the characters, that a Shakespearean tragedy would need, the king, the queen, the villans both civilian and military and the court jesters.

So the grapevine is that once all powerful first Lady of Pakistan Pinky Bibi will soon be bowing out, as the drama is coming to an end. Surely leaving the life behind she meticulously crafted with khan with help of the playwright, from running the djin oriented Bani Gala to crowning Buzi darling as the chief minister of the most populous and politically critical province of the country. 

For good or for bad, the act has come to an end.

Don’t be surprised to see her leave the corridors of power forever, cutting ties with the “corrupt” Khan and resorting to the ecstatic life in Pak Patan. As Mrs Manika again? Who knows but it surely is on the cards as is being said. Aren’t we all set for it after Halala?
